Who introduced you to couponing and who have you helped? Are they still doing it?
Hi,
I started really looking at flyers and deals and coupons for that matter bak in September. I posted an ad on a website looking for others who couponed in my area and met a friend. She came to my house with her MASSIVE binder of coupons and hence the beginning to my new passion. I never thought the day would come when I actually purchased a huge binder but it has more than helped me to be organized in terms of in-store use of coupons and checking expiry dates and efficiency while shopping.
Once I got the handle on it I introduced it to a friend of mine who was having hard times making ends meet. She also now has a huge binder and LOVES flyers, coupons and shopping more than ever. The more coupons I used for sales the more my family heard about it and now my mom and both my sisters are doing the same thing. ( my mom even has dad using coupons hahaha)... pretty hard for me to imagine but its true.
The point here is when you can pass along a wealth of information to others you cans ee how happy they get when you save them money. Simply passing along a coupon to someone in line at cash can light them up and make them happy. I do know some people don't want to use coupons and well thats their loss.
Well that's my story and I continue to talk to everyone I meet about coupons and they are astounded how much we can save by being aware of what marketing organizations want us consumers to see. Organizations put this out for us to use and sometimes we turn a blind eye to marketing when really there's lots of great savings to be had!
Share the love with everyone you know!!!
Have a great day!

Oh yah I agree! One of the best things is when people come to my house and they see my stockpile and I give them a big bag and tell them to go shopping. HAHA they get so excited, its awesome

I lucked out and got a really cool data entry position for a website in the states that tracks coupon and sales at specific stores. I didn't even know we had coupons in Canada before that. I helped a friend with 4 kids and hockey billets this summer, I couldn't stand watching her go shopping for all that food and not even try to shop the sales or use coupons.

I started clipping diaper coupons that came in the newspaper inserts when I had my first child. When I was pregnant with my second child in 2007 I began searching online for money saving ideas and I found Smart Canucks. I gradually got into couponing once I figured out the site and all the possibilities of saving money by using coupons! I also found Mrs. January's blog through Smart Canucks and was truly inspired by how much she saved.

I started couponing after my neighbour told me about it one day over tea. She was telling me all teh gret deals that she gets and of course I was excited to hear more. Now I am just as far into the coupon game as my n eighbour and just love it. I share all my deals with friends and family and like to help the shelters as well. great thread for sharing stories!

I got into it purely by fluke. A friend of mine introduced me to a photo contest on SC, I entered and started reading the posts. It was the time of the $10 coupon on cereal. I realized you could get $10 games. I was hooked.
My hubby saw me starting to coupon and I had them everywhere, for xmas he gave me a gift basket of a binder with supplies. He researched what you need to make one and went from there. My binder now comes with me everywhere.
I have my mother in law doing shelter gifts as she has heard me brag about everyone here.
